Signature Healthcare takes part in community wellness and health initiatives related to chronic issues like obesity and childhood asthma throughout the year as part of our community benefits program.  Recently, Signature Healthcare participated in two community events which branched out from our health focus, and were designed to spread holiday cheer.

The first took place on November 20, sponsorship of Brockton's Santa Hat day - an attempt to break the world record of most Santa hats worn in one place.  Employees of Signature Healthcare visited Brockton public schools to hand out Santa hats the week before, to generate awareness.  A crowd of 1,792 people wore Santa hats in downtown Brockton, more than doubling the Santa hat-wearing record of 872 last year.  This is significant because in 1890, Mr. James Edgar of Edgar’s Department store in Brockton established the first department store Santa.

The second event included the Brockton Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 26.  Signature Healthcare employees met for weeks prior to the event to design and build their "Santa's Workshop" themed float, and even made their own matching elf costumes.  It was a great team building and community participation event.
